al quds

[edit]

please add an ", also known as Al-Quds" after jerusalem in the first words of the article. this is the arabic name for the city and considering the city is half claimed by the 1967 palestinian borders and fully claimed by other previous borders, this is a name to be included. Then make a new article. 2600:4041:5E56:DD00:7140:9153:6A1A:D79F (talk) 20:06, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Since Wikipedia uses countries instead of geographical areas when stating location of cities, I think the first paragraph in the lead section of the article should be changed. My suggestion is:

"Jerusalem is a city in Israel and Palestine, on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. Both the State of Israel and the State of Palestine claim Jerusalem as their capital city, though neither claim is widely recognized internationally. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, and is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religionsJudaism, Christianity, and Islam." Blagai (talk) 18:25, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit extended-protected}} template. also see Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Jerusalem, this is not a simple request Cannolis (talk) 21:17, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What you see is the result of applying Wikipedia's rules (e.g. WP:NPOV) to content that comes from reliable sources. Readers don't need to apply those rules to their personal opinions, so mismatches are not unusual. Sean.hoyland (talk) 10:13, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
